Seat and Fender Mounted

All I need is a sissy bar. Josh is stopping by tomorrow morning to take some measurements and make one for me. Now I have to figure out a permanent wiring set-up.

Flywheels Indeed

I have been seeing this magazine on a lot of blog's lately and tracked one down. I just wish I knew the Japanese language.

Ribbed for Pleasure

I bought one of these steel ribbed fenders from West Eagle last week but it turned out to be too narrow (4.75"). I called to see about exchanging it and they told me the wider (5.75") was out of stock. Luckily, I found a place in Ohio that had plenty. I bought it yesterday on there website and it arrived today. I'll be in the garage tonight mounting it.

Chain Tensioner

Here's the Powell Peralta chain tensioner mounted and good to go. It took me a minute to mock it up and then re-mock it up over and over to be sure it was going on straight.

I scratched my head a while before figuring out how exactly to do this and where to mount it. It's a tight fit below my seat with the oil bag and battery. I had to cut a section out of the battery box to make room for the action of the tensioner. I ended up welding it to the rear exhaust bracket that mounts to the frame under the battery (you can see it well in the third photo).

Zack's XS

One more of Zack's XS project. It's definitely coming along. This photo was taken when he had it over to weld on some passenger peg mounts.

Update

I've been working on this and that here and there lately. Not much to document. I started re-wiring the other night.

I re-enforced the rear fender (spare-tire-cover I got from Ivan's stash) by welding a 2 inch section of steel to the bottom and ended up warping it pretty badly. I tried standing on it to un-warp it but that sucker it strong. Now it'll take way too much time to fix so I ordered a real nice repop fender from West Eagle. That'll be here Friday; so I'll mount it then.

Also, it turns out that my chain tensioner is set up for a left side chain drive and I need a "reverse" spring to make it work properly on my Sportster. I sent the original spring back to Monstercrafstman yesterday and they're sending me the new one today. Hopefully I'll get that Friday as well.

So, I have a long weekend ahead of me. In the meantime, I'll be skateboarding as much as this Indiana shit rain will allow.

Tank Mounted

As you can see in the second photo, I didn't do a very good job centering the rear mounting hole. The tank looks sick though.

Bungs

I bought some threaded bungs from Lowbrow Customs. Then I drilled some holes in the top of my frame and welded them in.

New Gas Tank!

Built by T-Bone of NOISE. This piece is super clean with gorgeous welds.

Oil Tank Mounted

They aren't the prettiest welds but I did them myself. I still have to weld the bottom of the tabs but I'm going to wait until I tear it down for powder coating to do the final welding. I had to offset the tank a bit to clear the drive chain.

Amber Vision

Finished making a headlamp bracket and mocked up the old B-L-C fog lamp. I'm feeling it for sure. I also lowered the front end one inch.
